In 2016 I started Stories By Mom Children's books. It had been three years after leaving my job in accounting to become a a stay-at-home mom. It had been three years of survival and chaos raising two daughters. I loved being at home with them, but I also missed working toward something tangible. So with their help we started creating stories, we started mapping out their narratives and creating meaningful images that supported the stories' ideas. I didn't know how to do any of it, but I loved learning how to. I loved watching my kids get excited to see our ideas come to life. I read so many books and blogs. I watched videos and pinned ideas. Eventually, I learned how to self-publish. But, as much as I love my first book, I had a lot to learn. With each book, I tried to improve both my writing, drawing, and designing skills. I ended with a dozen books, but it's been a few years since I published anything, anywhere. I still draw and write, but am less focused on the content I was creating as being constantly online is a challenge. But I have gone back to school. In 2021, I began earning dual degrees in graphic design & illustration and creative writing. And we will see where that takes me. But I am glad you still found me.
