But, she also like to take initiative. She tries to help in the kitchen. She doesn't like it when I make my coffee without her. So she gets to push the grinder button and the plunger on the french press. It's all rather cute, most of the time.
Her other favorite job is taking care of her animals. She loves it. We have multiple fish, two dogs, four chickens, and five cats. She wants to be the one to feed them all. This is fine and well, but I do not rely on a three-year old to remember these tasks.
So this day, I proceeded to feed the cats. I opened the can of cat food, and Eleanor came thundering down the hall. "That's my job!" I had no problem with this. But she was already emotionally stricken with betrayal. I offered her the position of cat feeder, but she bolted back down the hall. I heard a sad, "I want my job..."
It is tough being a toddler. I consoled her and we fed the cats.
